Di,

Vortrag

›Art beyond aesthetics. Jaar or the rediscovered commitment‹
Gianni Vattimo introduces Alfredo Jaar, and his attempt not to express universal 'truths' on nature and life, as for example in his work Hagase la luz (Let there be light), dedicated to the genocide in 1994 of the Tutsis in Rwanda, the philosopher will also analyze the impressions and emotions given to us by the works of the Chilean artist. Gianni Vattimo has been lecturing philosophy at Turin University since 1964.

Di,

Artist Talk

›It is difficult‹
Alfredo Jaar explains the project thought for the Advanced Course in Visual Arts, exploring the methods through which art may investigate contemporary reality in new and creative ways. The rhetorical questions that he will try to answer in his lecture, are: how can we make art in a world in such a state? How can we create art drawing from the news that the majority of people would rather ignore? How can we inscribe an artistic practice in a landscape oversaturated by consumerism? How can we make the invisible visible?
